Take a Closer Look

Cook More at Once

Our custom baffle design eliminates hotspots, maintaining perfectly consistent temperatures across the entire grill. It’s the only smoker in NZ with this unique system — proven by the even bread test across the grates.

Perfectly Even Heat

Dual heavy-duty cooking levels let you smoke large quantities with ease. The top rack slides out for simple loading, and all grates remove for cleaning or transport.

Semi Insulated Firebox

The semi-insulated firebox reduces firewood usage and retains heat for longer, helping maintain a more consistent temperature during long cooks. Another advantage is that it keeps heat away from the ground beneath your smoker — perfect for use on wooden decks.

Frequently asked questions

How much do the Backyard Smokers weigh?

Depending on the size and features, our Backyard Offset Smokers range from 170kg to 300kg. That weight is a true testament to their solid construction — built from thick steel and engineered for long-lasting performance.

Can you ship this all around New Zealand?

Yes — we can ship our Offset Smokers nationwide to your nearest freight depot. To get an accurate shipping quote, just contact us here and our team will help you with pricing and delivery options.

What features are included?

Every Backyard Offset Smoker comes standard with:

  • Ash removal tool for easy cleaning

  • Genuine Tell-Tru thermometer for accurate temperature readings

  • Smoke collector and scoop baffle for perfectly even cooking temps

  • Fold-down or removable wooden work shelf

  • Slide-out top grate so you don’t burn yourself reaching in

  • Stainless hardware and cast-iron locking swivel casters

  • Semi insulated firebox for even cooking

  • Bracing on cook chamber and firebox doors.

Can I customise my smoker?

Yes — every Backyard Offset Smoker is built to order, so we can tailor it to suit your style and setup. You can choose from different chamber sizes, add, remove, or modify features like the folding table, and even request custom colours or a personalised branding plate. If you’ve got something unique in mind, just get in touch — we’ll help bring your ideas to life.

Is this built in New Zealand?

Yes — we’re proud to say all of our products are handmade right here in Canterbury, New Zealand. You can read more about our story on our About page.

Can it stay outside year-round?

Yes — our smokers are built from thick, high-quality steel that can handle being outdoors. They don’t use high-temp paint or need a cover — instead, the seasoning layer (a coating of baked-on oil and smoke residue) naturally protects the steel from rust and moisture. Keeping your smoker well-seasoned and dry after each cook will keep it in top condition for years to come.
